Woodlouse Industries is run by William Wallace, who has over 20 years of experience in treework and sawmill operation. Based in West Sussex, but with timber and mobile sawmilling clients in Hampshire, West and East Sussex, Surrey, Greater London, Kent and Essex.
Sawn Timber Supply
Woodlouse Industries supplies a mix of locally grown hardwoods and softwoods, both fresh sawn and air dried. We supply naturally durable timbers such as Sweet Chestnut, Oak, Larch, Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar fresh sawn for structural beams, posts and fencing, all types of cladding and even roofing shingles.
On the dry timber side we keep a rolling variety of utility and decorative timber for furniture, shelving, desks, turnery, kitchen and charcuterie boards, as well as material for small gift projects like cookie discs and sign board timber for pyrography, CNC engraving and laser cutting.
One of our specialities is “Rustic Scaffold Boards” which are chunky and characterful mixed species urban timber boarding for general home and commercial uses such as seating, tables and shelves. These timbers often have a story to tell (however unglamorous!), have usually been rescued from being chipped, and are a great way to get the reclaimed, rustic or industrial look with an authentic locally grown twist.
Mobile Sawmilling
On the mobile sawmilling side, we operate a Wood Mizer LT40 with Setworks, a system that allows for precision repeated cuts at good speed and efficient output from clients’ logs.
Most wood products, from battens, studwork and joists, to sleepers, beams, posts, cladding and wide boards up to 0.6m or 2ft width can be cut from your trees to give beautiful, useful and potentially valuable timber.
Boards and beams can be cut on site to 6.2m or just over 20ft, and shorter logs of up to 0.9m or 3ft diameter can usually be cut without trimming beforehand. If larger logs are encountered, we have various methods to neatly bring their width down before loading onto the mill.
Costs are £47.50 per hour on site to include standard blade and fuel usage, a travelling fee and fees for blades damaged by foreign objects may also be charged.
